Storm Clean-up and Utility Restoration Update: April 2, 2023 – 2:45 p.m.

MACHESNEY PARK, IL (2:45 p.m. – April 2, 2023) – ComEd crews are finalizing repairs to damaged utility lines that affected thousands of Machesney Park residents. ComEd has mobilized crews from as far as Ohio to contribute to power restoration efforts. As of 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, approximately 376 residents remain without power. ComEd has indicated that they intend to have all Machesney Park residents' power restored by the end of the day on Sunday, April 2.

The only remaining roadway blockage is on Obispo Ave., east of Ventura Blvd. This road has been barricaded and is awaiting ComEd’s services before the Public Works Department can remove any tree obstructions and reopen the roadways. Please avoid this area as well as any areas that have sustained damage to allow authorized crews to conduct their work safely and efficiently and not impede traffic access.

The Village’s Public Works Department cannot remove trees from private property. Rock River Disposal will remove bundles of 2-inch diameter branches/limbs that are no more than 4 feet in length during regular yard waste collection, starting on Friday, April 7. Starting 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, a drop site for large tree limbs, greater than 2 inches in diameter, and longer than 4 feet in length, will be set-up at Schoonmaker Park at 10893 Ventura Boulevard. Residents must follow all directions and signage on where to place tree debris and should not place any limbs or debris at the site before 10:00 a.m. on April 3. The debris will be chipped and removed from the dropsite.

If your home has sustained damage and you are unsure if it is safe to occupy, please contact the Village’s contracted building official by email at ilinspections@safebuilt.com to submit a request for a no-cost inspection.
