Potbelly Sandwich Shop coming to Machesney Park

Potbelly’s newest restaurant on Route 173 to open by the end of 2016

Machesney Park – Potbelly Sandwich Shop will open a new 2,400 square foot restaurant at 1419 West Lane, in Machesney Park this fall. The restaurant will give area residents a chance to experience the lively, neighborhood hang-out that makes Potbelly Sandwich Shop “The Best Place for Lunch.”

The Machesney Park Potbelly will offer a drive-through for customers on-the-go, as well as outside seating for those who would like to enjoy the fresh air while dining.

Potbelly plans to hire 20 employees and managers in the coming weeks.  Richter said that the Village promptly issued permits for Potbelly’s build-out and construction should begin within the next several weeks.

James Richter II, Machesney Park’s Community Development Director, attributes the new development along Route 173 to the recently-completed roadway improvements and cooperative efforts between the development community and the Village. “Route 173 has amazing synergy and the Village recognizes the importance of supporting growth in Machesney” said Richter.  “We’re excited for Potbelly to open – they’re a great addition to Machesney Park.”

Potbelly has built a passionate, loyal following of fans who spread the word about their fun, energetic atmosphere and great food.  From its humble beginnings as a small antique store on Chicago’s North Side, Potbelly Sandwich Shop is now in neighborhoods across 18 different states. Potbelly has built its reputation as a mealtime hangout where great food, friends, eclectic neighborhood décor and live, local music combine to create an atmosphere unlike any other.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop joins a wave of other businesses that have recently located in Machesney Park along Route 173, including: RUE 21, All About Eyes, ATI Physical Therapy, Kay Jewelers, Noodles & Company, Sleepy’s, and Meijer, which opened a 190,000 square-foot location at Perryville and Route 173 in 2015.
