The Mayor (Village President) is the Village's Chief Elected Officer and presides over all meetings of the Board of Trustees. Working as the official representative of the Village, the Village President acts as its spokesperson and works closely with the Village Administrator to enhance the Machesney Park community.
Mayor Steve Johnson has served as an elected official in Machesney Park since 2005. He served 10 years as Village Treasurer and 2 years as Village Trustee for District 2 before being elected Mayor in April 2017.
He is happily married to his wife Diana who worked as a long-time Executive Director for the Parks Chamber of Commerce. Mayor Johnson is employed as a pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy in Machesney Park. His son Ryan has a Master’s Degree in Accounting, and works in downtown Chicago. Ryan and his wife, Emily, have two Children, Rhett and Maizie, they live in New Lenox, IL. Traveling to the southwest suburbs to visit gives the Mayor an opportunity to view the workings of other government entities and bring growth inspiring ideas to the Village.
He has served the Village of Machesney Park for many years as a volunteer and is a very active resident throughout the community. His hobbies include gardening, spending time with his family and cheering on his beloved Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. His devotion to Machesney Park, its schools, and service organizations makes Machesney Park a better place to work and live.
